Images of Provence

Our first day --- the beach at Nice was mostly stones.

This is the view from Rousillon overlooking the valley.

Rousillon is famous for its red (ochre) soil.

Budding artists study at the Rousillon conservatory.

Even the buildings are red!

No, she's not a real person!

The town of Gordes suddenly materializes above the valley!

A patchwork of farms extends as far as the eye can see!

This is one of the bedrooms in our Rousillon apartment.

Waterwheels in L'Isle sur la Sorgue lend a rustic ambience.

The town is actually an island in the river!

Our first stop along the wine road is Seguret!

Walter McKinlay showed us around Domaine de Mourchon.

Most of the wine-making is done underground!

Wine-tasting at the Domaine des Girasols winery.

Le Tournasol, Vaison la Romaine, as recommended by Rick!

The local shops were packed with Easter treats!

This is the view of Avignon from the Palais des Papes.

The candied fruit looked too good to eat!

We stumbled across the Feria de Paques which marks the start of the bullfighting season in Arles!

Le Palais was the headquarters of the Church in the 1300's.

The hungry hordes scarfed down huge platters of paella with mussels and shrimp!

Relaxing by the Rhone, far from the crowd!

Shops were filled with unique pottery!

La Rotonde, Aix-en-Provence, the scene of the crime!!
